ReceipTap Wallet Terms of Service
These Terms are between J.A.C. GLOBAL APPROACH LTD. () and you, an individual with a ReceipTap Wallet account ("you," "your wallet"). They're written for shoppers who save receipts and use the wallet — not for the businesses that use ReceipTap at their register, who are covered by a separate Terms of Service instead. By creating a ReceipTap Wallet account, you agree to these Terms.
Who this is for
A ReceipTap Wallet account belongs to an individual, not a business — it's where your own digital receipts live, from every business you've tapped a ReceipTap puck at or added a receipt to yourself. You must be at least 18 years old to create one.
You don't need a wallet account to get a receipt at all: tapping your phone on a puck and viewing a receipt works without one. A wallet account is only for choosing to save receipts in one place over time.
What the wallet does
Once you have a wallet account, it:
- Keeps every receipt you save from a tap at a ReceipTap-connected business, in one place
- Lets you photograph or upload a paper (or other-store) receipt so it becomes a digital entry in your wallet too
- Automatically sorts what you buy into spending categories, and can suggest which purchases might be worth reviewing at tax time, using AI (a suggestion, not tax advice — see Categories and tax flags)
- Lets you export or download your receipts, for a return, a warranty claim, or your own records
Your account
You can create a wallet account with an email and password, or by signing in with Google, Apple, or Microsoft. The information you give us needs to be accurate, and kept accurate.
You're responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us right away if you think someone's gotten into your account without permission.
Cost
A ReceipTap Wallet account is free. We don't ask for a payment method to create one, and nothing about using it — saving a tap receipt, scanning one, exporting your data — is billed to you.
Scanning or uploading a receipt
When you photograph or upload a receipt, we use an AI service to read it and pull out the store name, date, total, and item list, so you can review and correct anything before it's saved to your wallet. It's never saved automatically without you confirming it — you always see the extracted details first.
AI extraction isn't perfect. It can misread a blurry photo, a faded receipt, or unusual formatting, and it can miss or misidentify a field. You're responsible for checking what it fills in before you confirm it, the same way you'd double-check anything you typed by hand.
Only upload a receipt that's actually yours — a purchase you made. Uploading a receipt as evidence of a purchase that isn't real, or that isn't yours (for example, to falsely support a return, warranty claim, or expense report), is a misuse of the wallet, not something we guarantee the accuracy of, and not something we're responsible for if you rely on it for a claim you make to someone else.

Categories and tax flags are not tax advice
The wallet sorts your receipts into spending categories and may mark one as possibly worth reviewing at tax time. Both are produced automatically by AI from what it reads on the receipt. They are a convenience for organising your own records — nothing more.
They are not tax advice, and they are not a determination that anything is deductible. We are not accountants or tax advisers, we don't know your circumstances, and whether a purchase can actually be claimed depends on facts the receipt never contains — what you bought it for, how you use it, and the rules that apply where you file.
These flags can be wrong in both directions: something marked as possibly deductible may not be, and something unmarked may well be. Don't treat a flag as permission to claim a purchase, or its absence as a reason not to. Check with a qualified tax professional before relying on any of it, and keep the original receipt either way — the photo is the record a tax authority accepts, not our label on it.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload a photo that isn't actually a receipt, or isn't yours, as described above
- Try to access another person's wallet account or receipts
- Use the wallet for anything unlawful or to store content you don't have the right to
- Try to get around any usage limit we've put in place
Service availability
ReceipTap is an actively developed, early-stage service. We work to keep the wallet running reliably, but we don't currently guarantee any specific uptime, and it may be unavailable from time to time — for maintenance, an issue on our end, or an issue with a third-party service we depend on (including the AI service used for scanning).
The wallet isn't a substitute for keeping your own copies of important receipts (for taxes, warranties, or returns) if losing access to it would cause you a problem.
Data and privacy
Our Wallet Privacy Policy explains what we collect from your wallet account — including receipt photos you scan or upload — and why. We won't repeat that here.
Ending your account
You can delete your wallet account at any time from Settings, in one step, without contacting us. Deleting your account is immediate and removes your saved and scanned receipts, your consent records, and your account itself — it isn't held for a grace period first, unlike a merchant closing a business account.
We may suspend or end your account if you breach these Terms — for example, by misusing the receipt-scanning feature as described above.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows it, we aren't responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from these Terms or your use of the wallet — including damages from an AI misreading a receipt, or from losing access to a receipt you didn't keep a copy of elsewhere.
Because the wallet is free, and to the extent the law allows it, our total liability to you for any claim relating to it is capped at .
Changes to these Terms
When we make a real change to these Terms, we publish the new version here and update the "last updated" date at the top.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and any dispute arising from them will be handled by the courts there.
